I have determined that the outside help and equipment we need for this event is not available on August 13th, so this will proceed instead on August 6th. FYI, of those that expressed a preference for either date, the score was 2 to 2...
Here is my first DRAFT of the event flyer, without all the fancy graphics and other stuff. Comments please !! ( and do it soon )
GENERAL INFORMATION
The West Coast Military Radio Collector’s Group Summer Field Day will be held at Santa Paula Airport on Saturday, August 6th starting at 8 AM.
Participants are invited to bring field radios, pack sets, and other radio equipment for the Field Exercise, where operators will be dispatched to locations in and near the city to set up their gear and communicate with H.Q. and other units.
Equipment Swap and Display areas are available in the hangar, so if you have something to sell or show-off, please bring it along.
Lunch will be professionally catered by Garden Market, featuring Tri-Tip sandwiches and Authentic Mexican Food made with the freshest meats, vegetables and ingredients.
See aircraft displays and tour other hangars and collections, including one containing early broadcast radios.
Early arrivals and late departures are welcome.
ASSOCIATED ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS
You and your family members might also enjoy these other activities…
From 5-8 pm on Friday evening, you can walk through CruiseNite, a classic car show on Main Street hosted by the Police Department. Downtown Santa Paula will be filled with hundreds of cars and people, and many of the local restaurants run specials for this event.
The Fillmore & Western Excursion Train runs from the town of Fillmore to downtown Santa Paula on both Saturday and Sunday. The train stops for 90 minutes in Santa Paula before returning to Fillmore. It sure would make an interesting platform for a mobile radio team !
Sunday is Airport Open House day. This always attracts interesting aircraft, and usually a car club or two. The Aviation Museum operates a gift shop, and there is a tram so you can take a riding tour of the facility.
